OLD BUSINESS

 

John Oakley suggested that we continue to have Pastoral Council members available to parishioners the after masses on the weekend prior to the Pastoral Council meetings.  The next meeting is June 1.  Volunteer schedule is as follows:

                            Sat. 5/29 – 4pm  John Vatter

                            Sun. 5/30 – 9am John Oakley

                                                11:30am John will talk to Matt or Luke

 

Father Bill noted that no response has been received from Hydoworld Univ regarding the parking lot issue.

 

PASTOR’S REPORT

 

45 lots have been sold (about 2/3 of the space) for the community garden.  There is a community garden meeting Wednesday night and water use issue will be discussed.

 

School Auction was very successful - $10,000.  The Card Party was the night before the auction and the issue of 2 fundraisers being held so close together will be addressed.

 

Card Party was a big success $7,500-$8,000; minimal costs involved card tables and a few prizes.

 

We are up to 6l% of our DSA goal.

 

The Holy Father has approved the use of the new Roman Missal.  Planning meeting for teachers/cathicist next Wednesday.  New missal will be implemented Advent 2011.

 

More people are needed on the Finance Council; meets 2nd Tuesday of the month.  Submit names to Father Bill.

 

Fish Fry workers meeting on 5/16 after the 9am Mass.

 

 

 

 

 

FINANCE COUNCIL – no report – joint meeting last month with Pastoral Council.

 

EDUCATION COMMSION

First Eucharist Mass will be May 2nd with 14 children.

 

Vacation Bible School – June 23rd.

 

SOCIAL MINISTRY COMMISSION (Paula Young)

 

After Mass coffee and donuts are done.  It was suggested that coffee and donuts should continue through Memorial Day Weekend.

 

Food for Thought (KOC dinner) had 40 participants.

 

Thursday begins the 4 week course on immigration “Beyond Crossing Boarders”.

 

The next Holy Family 2nd Sunday Dinner is being sponsored by St. Vincent’s.

The October dinner will be sponsored by the Pastoral Council (Advent House Menu).

 

No Social Ministry Commission meeting in June.

 

Card Ministry is going well and receiving positive feedback.

 

We will be doing another Mobile Food Pantry; it was suggested that we could solicit donations of fresh produce from our Community Garden.

 

We will be doing a Summer Food Basket with distribution on a Saturday afternoon, with a possible program from the City Market and/or Extension group. Father noted he will bring up including fresh produce at the next Garden meeting.

 

WORSHIP COMMISSION  - no meeting until fall program; training the parish for use of the new missal.

 

One Confirmation for Lansing City Parishes.  Julie will be meeting during the summer.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Replacement for John as chair; Father will talk to Matt and Luke. 

 

ADDITIONAL AGENDA ITEMS:

 

Going away party for John will be 8/22.

 

John suggested a new item for the corn roast; corn bread from Gordon’s;

and possibly adding a new item each year.

 

Mark suggested we increase participation and awareness in Youth Life.  Father will speak to Emily to get kids in the parish involved.

 

Next Pastoral Council meeting will be after the 6pm Mass on Tuesday, June 1st.
